OraBase is a liquid that forms a film over your mouth sore, and thus, a protective shield. The film lasts for up to 6 hours.

It's a bit involved to use OraBase, but it's worth the effort. The liquid itself comes in a tiny bottle. You only use a drop at a time!

To use the product, you first dry the area of soreness with one end of the supplied swab. Then you put a drop of OraBase into the provided tray. You dip the other end of the swab into the liquid. Then you dab it on your mouth sore. In about 15 seconds, it forms a film. That film really stays in place.

If you have a sore from a bracket or hook, it is best to put orthodontic wax or silicone wax over for the duration of the treatment. This will give the sore a better chance to heal and stop the painful poking.

I've been really impressed with this product. It's a little pricey, but IMHO, worth the money.

Similar products (that don't work as well but are also helpful) are: Zilactin-B, OraGel Maximum Strength, and Anbesol.
