no. while I do believe in human imperfections I do not believe oral communication is inferior to written when it comes to 'keeping the facts straight'. In our case it's more because we are individuals and our tribe moved a lot and was much divided. there are many histories for the Shawnee and each open to personal interpretation.

I think various cultures place various values on what they think of 'truth' and accuracy...especially why it has to do with their history and culture.
