Ok, I won't (i)ask(/i) about the hair, but I have a solution for her what to do with it so she won't "have to" dye it blue and look like Marge Simpson (and match this site!). The suggestion is:

cut it straight off. Then she, as an artist, could use the new hairstyle for a huge paintbrush, pin whatever she likes to paint on onto the ceiling, dip her head into pots of paint, climb a ladder (or jump up and down maybe if she's fit enough) and nodd and shake her head and create a totally new type of art.
