Subject: Sherman on Oprah

OK, my husband always says I'm so mushy I make a bag of marshmallows feel like a brick wall, but this was incredibly moving to me. Just caught a show on Oprah (cause Maya Angelou was on) and lo and behold, there's Sherman Alexie! The show was on geneaology and knowing your ancestors. Sherman told a really moving story about his grandfather who was killed in WWII. He said he knew his grandfather had been awarded several medals which had been lost. He wanted to try to have them replaced to give to his father. He thought it would be "healing". Oprah had already been in contact with military officials and they came on and presented them to him. You could see he was really touched. Good show.
