Kathy,

You must anticipate losing your SS disability claim. During the Reagan administration it became semi-official policy to deny everybody. They found that enough people would either not appeal or die while the appeals were pending to save a lot of $$.

I tried two and these and won both.

One was a PTSD Vietnam Vet they were trying to deny for missing a doctor appointment.

One was my wife who, after being brought back from death when her heart stopped on the operating table for 13 minutes, could not read and write for a while.

Her immediate past employment was high executive positions, but her very first job was waitress. She had never held a job that did not require reading.

Even if she switched to manual labor, the surgery was not completed because of the heart problem--and it was BACK surgery!

So we won the appeal and got the money in a lump sum about the time she got her faculties back.

Anyway: expect to lost, but you MUST appeal. Both the ones I did were freebies, but these claims carry attorney fees, and most big cities now have lawyers who do a lot of them. It's almost like free money for the lawyers because the government is denying slam dunk cases.

This is the same administration that decided to reform the school lunch program by declaring catsup to be a vegetable and to improve tax collection by requiring restaurants to pay withholding as if waitstaff were being tipped 15% whether they got tipped or not! (It was at this time I starting tipping no matter how bad the service, because otherwise the waitperson might have to pay for the privilege of serving you...)

Do appeal.

Steve
