casey, i've never seen this abuse addressed before, anywhere.
if a person is taken to a police station and is cleared of wrong-doing---why isn't it the police responsibility to take them back to the pick-up point? most times the distance envolve miles and persons are picked up with no money for a cab.
i guess after a person is released they don't want to persue the matter.
my thinking on it is, usually the person involved is on the lower economic scale and isn't important in the community relations aspect for them.
i once was envovled in a situation just like your son. i had my paycheck, but very little money and it was cold. the station was 4mi. from the accident. my car was driveable but i had a tow charge to pay because of being taken in. i had ins. cards but couldn't find the current one. (it was a few days before x-mas) :(
