Subject: HEY! Sorry it's taken so long! That was on my behalf. All my fault, not Amanda's. Well, actually it's the phone company's fault for not fixing the problem sooner. This thing would have been out sooner. ... Anyways, Here it is! Chapter 40! WOOHOO!

Chapter Forty: Takeovers of the Spirit (First Person, Amanda)

Okay, I never said I expected them to accept Dan-chan with open arms. It’s bad enough I fell in love with the two things that “proper” white Southerners should never fall for (A black Yankee). Not that I was ever a proper Southerner to begin with, but I never expected them to say... that word.

“I DON’T CARE HOW YOU THINK YOU FEEL! HE’S A NIGGER AND THAT’S THAT!”

Hearing that, I marched straight to the door, my duffel bag over my shoulder, and CD Player in my hands. My Vanessa Carlton CD Be Not Nobody was in it. I refuse to let them see how much their words have hurt me! I refuse to give them that satisfaction!

“IF YOU GO OUT THAT DOOR, DON’T EVER BOTHER TRYING TO COME BACK!”

“Like I’d want to! I have ceased to care since I was thirteen!” I left. I sincerely hope they don’t want to see any grandchildren, because I’m never gonna let them near them. EVER.

As I snuggled up to Daniel after tossing my stuff in the backseat, it appears that won’t be an issue. Need a spell to get rid of adult annoyances? First, take one insanely giggling monstrosity that spouts off stuff about friendship and being nice just before it melts you with an atomic fireball. Second, find a human-turned-Zeo-jin who wants you dead (And vice versa) and his clone who make a tiny aim mistake and blow up the unimportant parts of the house. Works wonders on ASSistant principles who enjoy ruining kids’ lives, calling them liars to their faces, and squashing their First Amendment right to free speech too. (Ya’ll know who I’m talkin’ ‘bout, right?)

We talked awhile, but there was a strange feeling in my stomach. Instead of the elation I should had been feeling, it was more... euphoria.

“It’s almost a pity that they’re dead though. There’s a Sayin ritual that I need their blood for.”

“At least now you’re with someone who actually loves you.”

“Yeah. It’s wonderful.” I have to agree with Daniel: Life is good. At least, now it is.

“Amanda, been meaning to talk to you.”

“Yeah, about that. Do you have a problem with me or something?” Good thing my reflection warned me about this. I reached over and turned off the CD player.

“You, personally?” I nodded. “No...”

“But...?” Ya know, I have to applaud Red for being such a good friend to Dan. It’s kinda like me and Tayliana.

“But... to be quite honest...” Well? “I’m kinda jealous of you.” If I could facefault, and there was room to, I would have. I expected more of a “If you ever hurt him like the others did, I’ll kill you,”. For the record, if I ever do, Red has my full permission to do so. “All Dan talks about is you when he comes over. You and video games. Kinda annoying, really.” Whoa.

“Really? He cares about me that much?”

“Maybe more. Do you know he has, like, a shoebox full of love letters to you that he never sent by e-mail or anything? The boy’s whipped!” That sent me into a fit of giggles. That explains it! That’s why I never got any! He wrote them, he was just too embarrassed to send them! “All I’m trying to say is, let him have some time to hang with Junior an’ me, kay? Other than that, you have my support. I really think this relationship’ll work out.”

“I know it will.” I grabbed Dan-chan. I’m not the clingy type. Possessive, but not clingy. So long as I know where he is, he can do what he wants. Provided it doesn’t hurt anyone I like, of course. I give them the directions to Tayliana’s house, and we drive on. (A/N: Wish I knew the way to her house.)

When we got there, Junior, thoroughly beaten up, landed on the hood. I shrieked in shock and really latched onto Daniel’s arm. Then J.T. and Kay showed up.

I don’t remember what happened next, though I have been able to piece it together from what Daniel, Red, J.T., Kay, and Tayliana told me afterwards.

I slowly advanced on Junior, but I didn’t walk. I was floating about an inch off the ground.

“Why, Shitan?” Junior looked at me like I had lost my mind. “I know you were jealous of Daiko and the others before I killed you, but did you have to become so bitter?”

“What the Hell...” muttered Red.

“Mandi-chan...?” asked Daniel. I turned toward him. I didn’t find this out until later, but my eyes had changed color. Instead of the unchanging blue I had gifted my SI with, they were a dark brown.

“Hello, Daiko. It’s nice to see you again. Let me deal with your brother before my hold slips.” I turned back to Junior. Come to think about it, they said my voice was a half-octave lower, too. “If you didn’t inhabit this body, I would kill you. But the boy is an innocent in this fight. I will not harm him.” I lifted my hand. “What offends, become invisible. What is present, become past. BE GONE!” I swung my arm and Junior was thrown away in a method reminiscent of Jean Grey from X-Men.

“Who are you?!” yelled Daniel. “You aren’t my Mandi-chan!” I turned back to him.

“I should have known you wouldn’t recognize me. You don’t remember your other lives. I’m not surprised. I missed you, Daiko. Is my old rival, Masata, here?” My brown-eyed gaze fell on J.T.. I chuckled. “Why am I not surprised? You always did have a fascination with the Zeo-jins.”

“You haven’t answered the question. Who are you?” asked J.T.. In retrospect, I don’t think he was happy at being told he was a Sayin at one time. No, correction. I KNOW he wasn’t happy.

“Very well. My name is Avaiana. I was protectress of Prince Vegita Vegita, 25th of Vegitasei before my death. Now I inhabit this body. Don’t worry, she hasn’t been harmed. As for the body Shitan now holds, I do not know. I am sorry. Now, I must go. I shall see you again, my dearest Daiko.” Then my eyes closed. “Daniel...” I whispered before I passed out, falling into his arms.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Okay, if you can’t figure it out, here.
Shitan: Junior. Pun: Shiitake mushrooms
Daiko: Daniel. Pun: Daikon radish
Masata: J.T.. Pun: Masatake mushrooms
