Subject: Chapter 23: Brotherhood at 4 AM (First Person - Red)

Sharing a room with my brother isn't too bad, as long as you keep him busy.

Or Daniel isn't nearby.

For some reason, whenever Dan is over at our house, Junior acts more hyperactive than usual. He says more perverted stuff. He tries to get our attention. I think he's jellous of him or something. Like Dan gets all of my attention, and he hates that.

Anyway, when I got into our room, I unpacked the duffle bag I always bring with me on trips. A pair of pants, two shirts, a change of underwear, my baseball bat (Cuz ya never know...) and my PS2. I hook up the system to the TV in the room and put on Guilty Gear X2. I chosse May. I'm always May. He's always Slayer.

"I hope Amanda's not doin' nothin' to Alex," he says while hitting me with a seventeen hit combo.

"How come?" I counter with a combo of my own. Five hits, but they land hard.

"I jus' don' want him to get hurt. Who would I play with then?" Jab.

Counter. "Me, Mami, Stephanie, Melissa, Piri..."

Block. "You think I'm annoying."

Two hit combo. "You are annoying."

K.O. "See? Alex is more of a brother than you are! He plays with me. he cooked for me, he bought me food..."

Round two. Three hit combo followed by a projectile attack. "He bought that food for all of us, Junior. He's just a nice guy."

Block. Uppercut. Two hit combo. Special attack. "Too nice. People will use him. Amanda might use him. Sex him, leave him, make him pay for the babies."

Pause. Damn. He just spoke my fears. I've been with him for two out of four relationships, not counting this one with Amanda. He was always the one trying to please. Spending money meant for his food. Cooking. everything except what the girls wanted. One wanted his cash, the other wanted...
Who knows that that psycho bitch wanted? I'm sure Amanda won't be the same way. She's been through too much shit to let a good guy like Dan slip way over some needless shit. But I can't help but worry.

Another thing. Junior said the first non-perverted things all day! He wasn't jelous of Dan. He was jelous of me and Amanda for taking all of Danny's attention. That hurt. I wasn't even considered family by the Menace. That stung worse than the fireball he was charging up before I stopped the game.

"Junior, you jelous of me?"

"Yeah."

"And 'Manda?"

"Yeah. I love Alex. He's like a brother. I wanna make sure it's love. I wanna keep Alex happy..."

"Me too. Tell you what. I think we have these powers for a reason. In the morning, we're gonna go to the mall, and get some weapons. If a fight's coming, we need to be ready to help Dan, yeah?"

"A fight is coming," May says. May? From the game? But it's paused. "Do not worry. You will find your weapons when the time comes." The screen goes static.

"Shit."

"Yeah." Beat. "C'n I get a stick like Goku?"
