Author: Dan
Subject: Rollie

In Jerry Epstein's "Remembering Chaplin" he writes of Charlie giving Roliie $25,000 in severance pay and "Rollie accepted the money and (he) afterwards wrote a vitriolic article attacking him". (Page 90 of the hardcover edition)

I am sure that Charlie's "perfectionism" was disconcerting to some and that given a few years to brew, could manifest into unreasonable attacks. I'm sure that life with Charlie was no picnic at times; but genius is like that.

As for Michael's book: It is a loopy trip through a lost time and I have no doubt that he was egged on by his publisher and somewhat addled in his hippie like state. No doubt he regrets it immensely!
