Subject: Failures in 4/01 M3's

I have a 2001 M3, 6 speed. It was manufactured in 4/01, and has 22000 miles on it. It used the 10W-30 oil until they changed the spec oil to 10/60. It blew through at least a quart of 10-30 per week.

It has not yet blown up, but has a real rough spot or vibration at 3000-3300 RPM. I pointed this out to the BMW dealer, and demonstrated it on a test drive appx. 8 mos. ago. They told me everything is fine. I understand that this vibration is common prior to blow ups. Is this the experience of those who have grenaded motors?

Does anyone know of failures of cars manufactured in 4/01? I know BMW thinks the problem is with 11/01 or 12/01. Please e-mail me at Tiburon27@earthlink.net.
