Subject: M-COUPE S-50 MOTOR FAILURE

Hello friend.
I bought my car to a B.M.W. dealer in Germany. It´s a M-Coupe (S50 321 h.p., iron block) and had the same problem that yours.
Last August ,after fill up, i noted a small beating when i started it and i stoped it.
After check all (all was ok) i tried start it again... but the motor was seizing up. (29.829 kms). Inspection was on 23.871 kms.
I phoned to Europlus (my car have 3 years warranty 14.04.00 - 14.04.03) and they carried to my BMW dealer.
It was a surprise for them, because this motor is/was very strong. They find the problem in a rod bearing, it looked like cigarette paper.
BMW ordered change all internal pieces and the oilpump, less pistons, because the cause of the damage was a lubrication failure. I propose a engine change, but BMW said no.

TOTAL REPAIR BILL: 6.191,67 € and one year of warranty.

I remember that when the car passed the first oil service i came back very worry because the oil changed was Castrol Softecplus 5-30 but they said me that it was ok.

Congratulations for your great page and thank´s for your help.

Francisco Marco Ramírez.
