Subject: RE: New latest SMG Software.

Hi All, just picked up my "Beast" after designated oil service as calculated by computer. I took Stans advice and the oil sample will be tested by Blackstone Laboratories (very helpful, no problem to them to post sample bottles to me in Australia and then e-mail the result.

As part of this service I insisted on Dealer downloading latest SMG software.Somehow they stuffed up and the M3 would not even start after. However after 2 days She is running beautifully.I am impressed with the result, gone are the neck jerking downshifts in S4, S5 & S6 in fact passengers cannot even pick S5 - 6th to 5th to 4th, even 6th - 3rd very smooth. Transmission seems to demand a much stronger rev between downshifts. Almost no driveline shunt. Down hill automatic downshifts are much more responsive and happen at lower revs. Selecting "Sport" is much less dramatic and the dreaded "Rabbit Hopping" is no more.

Someone in Germany has been really busy and I feel these are engine saving changes. Maybe it is now a bit tame but it is smooth, more controllable and easier in the traffic with downshifts much less likely to break traction. Thoroughly recommended !!
