Just an opinion, mind you...but it would seem that NHTSA got involved when far fewer parts started failing on vehicles than the estimated number of engine failures we've seen on the e46 M3. Surely, there have been reports filed by e46 M3 owners to NHTSA when it was discussed on Jason's site. I wonder what it takes to get them into action? If NHTSA were to put pressure on BMW for a resolution/voluntary recall, I think it would happen. Threat of a Class Action Suit and NHTSA pressure might be enough to get the "rats out of their hole"!
