Subject: Doocot

Just got a call back today confirming that Kingsway are merging with Forfarshire and therefore, we can have Doocot if we want it.

So, time for us to decide. He did not mention cost but I know that the other teams pay about £50 per year which is much less than our total cost at Scone, plus it is more convenient, a better wicket, and all the work is done for us! The downside is that we are not in control of which games are on as we would probably play when Doocot would be off (although from Martin's point of view that might be a good thing as no hours spent agonising over whether to make an on call or off call only to end up being criticised) and the other downside is that if we unearth any good young players, by sharing resources with League teams we are more likely to lose those players to those teams.

I have told John Dodds that either Martin Ritchie or John Taylor will get back to him to confirm what is happening soon. Call me if you need his number. Obviously, if we don't take this chance there is no guarantee we will get the chance again.

Obviously, it was debated at the year AGM, but for what it is worth I now think I am much less opposed to the idea and think it might even be a good thing. [Sandy in 'I admit I was wrong' shock!] Maybe opinion should be canvassed again.
