Subject: scotland players

Well done to the Scotland players who have forsaken being paid to ensure the nation can take part in the National Sunday League. It will weaken the team as some guys will have to work some weekends rather than play and our best youngsters will continue to be poached by the counties (two more are away to Durham) but it is a fantastic gesture in these days of sporting greed.

It is a pity that the overpaid and underworked administrators couldn't have taken a similar line sooner - I happen to know that a guy sat getting paid large sums for six months for supposedly raising the marketing revenues and raised precisely nil.

At least we can spend the summer being really proud of our cricketers whether they win any games or not.
