Subject: NEC LaVie POST error

Here's the POST screen from my NEC LaVie:

ATAPI CD-ROM: CD-224E
ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI Mass Storage Controller on Motherboard
Bus:00, Device:06, Function:00

Press to resume, to Setup

Sometimes, the "Mass Storage" is listed as "Display", so I assume it doesn't know what the device is for. Running a DOS PCI bus scanning program shows that the problem device is associated with vendor ID 11C1, which is Lucent Technologies, and I do have a winmodem made by Lucent in the machine. This problem started when I tried to use a Logitech PS2 mouse on the machine. The modem has not worked since. Any ideas?
