Subject: Toshiba satellite 2805 problem

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2805-s301 (as shipped with WinME)with a problem - it does not recognize the 2 pcmcia slots. Up until yesterday, it worked perfectly.

For a while yesterday it would lock up whenever a card was inserted; now it does not even recognize that anything has been inserted. The same result comes from inserting any of the 3 cards I have - a compact flas reader, a smart media reader, and a network adapter.

Windows sees the slots, and says they are working fine.

I have tried to open the computer to see if a connector is working loose, but cannot seem to open it up. I have removed all visible screws, and can get all of the edges apart, but the center seems stuck.

Anyone know the trick to opening it? Or anyone have any suggestions on fixing the problem?

Thanks.
