Subject: on startup the date in bios resets to month of manufacture

my dell c640 loses it's date setting in the bios
when i start up. it works ok once i set the date
manually in bios or through windows xp home.
on the next startp it losese it's date setting again.
it is one year old. is it a battery problem ( the battery
shows 100% charged), or is there a seperate battery in the
laptop for bios date setting.
help appreciated. thanks in advance
