Just ran into this...
I was trying to add an internal mini-pci modem/sound card to a solo 9300-E that I had bought. It generated that exact same error. According to gateway, the solo 9300-E does not support an internal mini-pci modem (nor firewire also). The solo 9300 and the solo 9300VE both support the internal mini-pci... I had to swap back to the original sound card to get the unit to boot properly.

I'd say you have the following two options....
1) replace the sound card/ mini-pci with a sound card only
2) replace the 9300-E motherboard with a 9300 or 9300VE motherboard.
