Subject: dead laptop

help..!
my twinhead slimnote vx (model p88t) laptop has died on me. it had 4 a while not been running properly, it used to beep once on bootup and it didnt run as fast as it did . how can i assertain which component is faulty, and where can i get hold of a relacement motherboard if its that.the cpu is a pentium 2 mmx mmc1 at 266hz. how can i find out what sort of motherboard is in it. it has a tosh hard drive and cd rom, ess audio and trident graphics, both on board. could i use bits out of a comparable tosh,dell or compaq.
