Subject: Faulty Internet connection

Hi,

I have a very mysterious problem and I've talked to many people...no one can figure it out. Please help!

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite 1905-s301 laptop 3 weeks ago. I had Cox Cable try to install Internet. It worked for a few hours (the PC light was solid and then started flashing and I had no Internet connection) so I called cable support and they had the guy return. He tried to install it again and the PC light on the modem was flickering as before. The cable guy told me I had a faulty ethernet port on my computer and to exchange it (he had tried 2 different cables and thought it wasn't the modem).

I exchanged it and got a new computer. The cable guy came back and had the same problem so he tried 3 different modems and 4 cables..still the PC light would remain solid a bit but then flash again. The Internet would connect sometimes and then not other times.

I returned my computer a third time. Another cable guy showed up and a supervisor and they were able to make an Internet connection through the USB etherlink connnection so they assumed it had to be my computer's ethernet port since USB appeared to be working.

Meanwhile, I returned to Circuit City again and the store director and a salesperson tested the computer for me and found that the ethernet connection was disabled under device manager. So they enabled it and assumed that must have been the problem with the other 2 computers before. The PC light remained steady in the store for a couple of minutes.

I brought the computer home and it's still connecting only some of the time with both the ethernet and USB ports. Now I'm not sure if it's the modem or the computer.

Any ideas on what these people may have missed? It's hard to believe that 3 pieces of equipment, computer or modem, would all be faulty. I did call Toshiba and they said there have been no issues or recalls with this brand.

Thanks.
(Please email me directly at my hotmail account).
