Also Pentobarbital wird in Deutschland meines wissens nur noch zum Einschläfern von Tieren verwendet. Das Präparat heißt Eutha77 und ist eine Injektionslösung. In der Schweiz wird Pentobarbital von der Sterbehilfeorganisation Dignitas verwendet. Die Sterbewilligen erhalten dort 15g Pentobarbital, und diese Dosis ist sehr sicher, obwohl in einzelfällen das Sterben schon mehrere Tage gedauert hat. Davon bekammen diejenigen aber nichts mit.
Das einzige in Deutschland für Menschen verwendete Barbiturat ist Phenobarbital (Luminal). Barbiturate fallen unter das Betäubungsmittelgesetz und sind nur sehr schwer zugänglich.
