Didn't Anne Murray record and release a hit version of I JUST FALL IN LOVE AGAIN? I remember Richard saying the Carpenters had wanted to pull it as a single at the time, but the version they did wasn't editable the way others songs sometimes are.

And he was set against releasing it as it was, as it clocked in at nearly 5 mins, way too long for radio at the time. Anne went on to have a hit with the song.

I just Fall in Love Again was the "B" side of the hit single "Calling Occupants....", when it was released here in 1977. In fact, it was a bigger hit than than the "A" side as we Filipinos are hopelessly romantics. Its a 4-min single as stated in the label.........Later I found out that the late great Dusty Springfield had recorded it also, but never heard her version so far. The Carpenters recorded it in 1977, Anne Murray in late 1979. In the album of Anne's greatest hits she gave credits to Dusty as the one whom she covered the song, unfortunately there was no mention of the Carpenters' version.........Who recorded it first?.........Will somebody enlighten me?

The Carpenters were the first to record "I Just Fall In Love Again". Although Anne Murray had a hit with the song in the worldwide sense I believe The Carpenters do have the definitive version.
Dusty recorded the song in 1979 for her album "Living Without Your Love".
A bit of trivia Dusty passed away on March 2, 1999, which was the anniversary of what would have been Karen's 49th birthday.
Since The Carpenters were the most popular and regarded the best in the genre of romantic pop music they usually received songs from various songwriters before anybody else ie "Can't Smile Without You", "You're The One", "Tryin' To Get The Feeling Again", "Where Do I Go From Here" and others.
