I read about "You're No Good" on a Carpenters website about 2 years ago and then about a year ago there was a discussion about the song on a Carpenters forum - I think it was on roadode.com - but roadode.com no longer exists.

Hi All,

I understand Karen and Ramone recorded several songs as Rehearsals / Guide Vocals only.These tracks were never intended for any releaseand probably reside within Ramone Archives.You're No Good is probably one of these additional recordings ?

None of these tracks would be listed on Buried Treasures A&M Library Listing as these tracks were non-A&M recordings, just as 1980 Karen /Richard Re-recordings of "Without" and You're Just" were not included.Only Music TV Special versions were listed.

There are numerous omissions from Buried Treasures as shown by recently released unissued material and there are many Carpenters / Solo tracks within Richard's treasure trove Personal Archive -that could be issued for future sets !

Karen briefly sang snippets of "Laughter" and "This One's" on BBC Radio Special.There are Live versions of both tracks from Vegas Seasons -again certainly within Richard's Archive.Carpenters performed Medley of Sedaka songs with Neil Sedaka in 1975 and there rumours Karen sang a short Carpenters version of "Laughter"as well? "This One's" was recorded live as part of a favourite songs missed medley in late '70's.

Would be great to have these Rarities released either on next Rarities Album , another Box Set -along with other long promised tracks Thank You For The Music , Play A Simple Melody , Cindarella Rockafella etc or on long overdue American Live Set.We can only keep persuading Richard and looking forward to further releases.

Hi Peter - thanks for all the fantastic information.
One of my Carpenters wishlist items is an American Live album (maybe a Las Vegas date) accompanied with a DVD.
I'm looking forward to another release of rarities. I hope they do a better job with the next one and release it in the U.S. It's a shame that "As Time Goes By" never saw a U.S. release.
One song I've been waiting for release is "Thank You for the Music". I've heard the live version from the Tonight Show - but rumor has it there is a studio recording done sometime around 1977-78.
