Welcome Mrs. G,
Here is the story on the most lovely "Merry Christmas Darling".
The single was first released on November 20, 1970 with the A&M records catalog number; 1236 S. It came with a picture sleeve featuring a black and white photo of Karen and Richard, with their autographs in the middle. Mint copies of this single go for about $10.00 to $12.00.

Karen had been performing the song since 1966, while a student at Cal State Long Beach. Choir director, Frank Pooler, asked Richard, also a student in 1966, to put music to a lyric which he wrote in 1946. Pooler's lyric is about a young lady who misses her boyfriend who has gone off to war. The song was especially poignant during Christmas 2001 after the 911 attacks. It's also one of the most popular Christmas tunes of alltime.
