4th SPECIAL ALBACORE UPDATE FOR MONTEREY AREA & HALFMOON BAY AREA'S

SATURDAY, JULY 31st, 1999 at 9:15 A.M.

Don't get the flu on a Friday night like I just did. My Son's Rob and Steve Batsford took our boat Qualifier~27 Albacore searching leaving Halfmoon Bay at 4:00 a. m. and heading towards the 601. They called again via cell phone at 8:55 a.m. Had 20 Albacore on the boat in the 20 to 30 pound class, and had to hang up because all of the four rods out of five they were trolling went down again. They have had a lot of double and triple hook ups. Losing some because only the two of them on the boat. The boys are fishing on the inside at 37:01 & 122:50. Water is clean with a 58 degree temp. They are just circling the same spot. They only have one other boat with the Bob Schnick on his boat the Mira Mar them rest of the fleet further out and on smaller 7 to 8 pound Albacore. Seas are starting to get snotty. Darn Flu.

FRIDAY, JULY 30th, 1999

TUNA NEWS.....Scott Levenworth on the boat SPARKY got 3 Albacore!!! The numbers were 36.34&122.4, 58.2 deg water. 25 pound fish. Hot lures, zuchni cedar plug, and daisy chain with green/black lure. It is about a 45 mile run.

Another report in but 6 of Albacore taken off the 601 Spot today. Some boats leaving Halfmoon Bay early A.M. Saturday
