I haven't compared them under fishing conditions or built rods with them but just a side by side comparison the AFTCOs, you must admit, have a sleeker, low profile finished look. JMO, but Stuarts would be just fine yacht fishing from a chair but too bulky [read tall] for stand up style fishing.
Like the hd man said for the heavy duty rods like chunk or kite fishing where heavy leader-to-spectra wind on, loop-to-loop, crimp connections are involved, the big foot wind on leader AFTCOs are the way to go.
