Jim- there are two set ups that have been my staples during this YT bite and both are Steve Kelly's recommendations. A good stout seven foot rod with thirty or forty pound test. And a seven to eight foot rod with twenty or twenty five pound test. The former is usually used with either a heavy jig for yo-yo-ing or for a dropper loop rig with a five or six ounce sinker and the whole squid. The latter is used with a quarter ounce to three quarter ounce slider and a three to four ought hook with a whole squid. Depends on whether the fish are hittin up higher or down deep.

My "heavy" outfit is the Pro Gear 545 with thirty pound test on a Graphiter 700M. The medium outfit is a Penn 535GS with twenty pound test on an 800L. Those two have taken a bunch of the yellowtail and a several white sea bass on the Island Tak this year.
