I want to start out by saying that I am the Everol distributor here in the States, so I am obviously going to be a bit biased, but I will also be quite frank.

The parts and service issue is a non issue as far as I am concerned. Given you cannot walk into any corner tackle store and pick up parts, but they are readily availble from the stock we keep domestically and from the factory. The basic design of the reels has not changed radically over the years and this makes stocking parts much easier. As far as I'm concerned Everol for a small company is absolutely phenomenal about supplying parts for their all of the reels they have made over the years--not just the new stuff. I have had no problem obtaining parts for reels as old as 1961(compare this situation to say Shimano where you cannot even get parts for the Beastmasters or Triton Trolling which were produced only 10 or 15 years ago--Shimano is excellent in service, but in parts.....). If you doubt what I am saying, I highly recommend that you call our main service center, Wright Tackle, in Pensacola and talk to Greg there; he too will tell you that he has never had a problem getting parts.

As far as the reels themselves go, one post here notes the difference between East and West Coast fishing. Our reels have always had more of a presence on the East coast and it is undeniable that the West Coast style of fishing is unique. We are, however, working hard to hone our product specifically for this market. I will tell you flat out that the prototype two-speed that was referenced before did have some problems, but that is why it was a prototype and not a production reel. We have taken the feedback from this field testing and started to incorporate the features demanded into the production reel(a slower low gear ratio for instance).

Everols are tough reels with excellent drags and are available at very attractive pricing. Even though I am biased, I can honestly say that even if I were not the distributor I would still choose Everol for my boat because of their toughness and bulletproof design. Hopefully this will generate some more discussion. Tight Lines.
