That's pretty messed up about Penn, sorry to hear about the bad experience.

the Accurate 665XN is not that great of a reel, you cannot even turn the handle when hooked into a fish of decent size.

Calling Newells junk is pretty stupid considering they are the original West Coast reel. Everyone used to have them. When you go on the long range boats what do most of the crew have on thier sticks? Newells.

I have caught fish over 100# on 40# on a Newell 540 & the reel held up great & is still killing fish. Matched to a Calstar Grafighter, nothing beats it.
