I've been quite chatty today starting new threads. :)

Well I've done the unthinkable. I've actually panned a Enterprise episode. I thought "Precious Cargo" was very lame. It had the potential to be a good episode, but IMO they tried to jam too much episode into too little time letting everything fall flat.

What bothered me about it?

1. Archer and crew were just too accomodating to their unexpected visitors when it was well *very* obvious that they were up to something.

2. Was it me or was it just a little too obvious that they added Hoshi into the plot just so we could have the universal translator on board for later.

3. I'm all for bare chest scenes, but at least make the reason for them realistic! Come on, he was hit on the back many hours before. Wouldn't she have noticed he was bleeding way before she did especially in the cramped quarters of the escape pod? (Is this really me complaining about a gratuitous chest scene?)

4. The whole wet underwear/love scene was just well ridiculous! And who couldn't predict that the others would find them in their state of undress? It just irks me that the quality of the writing has slipped to this. I love Trip and I don't mind love scenes, but please give me a decent script.

5. I didn't like the girl. (and no jealousy has nothing to do with it)

6. The whole Archer, Tpol, and alien scene when they try to break their captive just seemed so unrealistic to how the situation should have been handled. I know it was suppose to be light, but how could the alien mistake Tpol for the superior in command when he had already met her a few times before and it was obvious at least to me that she is subordinate to Archer and that he is in command?

Perhaps I am delirious or going through PMS. The episode had all the elements a Trip fan could want: a lot of air time, bare chest, peril, skivvies, and love scene. Is it me or was the episode pretty bad? I'm hoping it was just a bad outing and not what can be expected in future. I was hoping they might show him walking out of decon and realizing it was all a dream. I have higher hopes for "Dawn" the next Trip featured episode in January.
