i own a imac (blue color with cd writer below the screen).
how much does it cost to upgrade to 256 RAM? 512?
is it safe to buy 2nd hand RAM? Can my imac upgrade to panther? im in kl .. where can i buy mac parts?

Unless I'm mistaken, your iMac is using the PC100 SD RAM. I don't think the PC100 is still available new anymore, but I believe that it's compatible with the PC133 SD RAM. A piece of 256MB/512MB will probably cost you around RM200/RM400. I wouldn't really recommend second-hand RAM, unless you know the previous owner, and you're pretty sure that it isn't faulty.

Yes, you can certainly run Panther. I'm currently running Panther on my iMac G3 500MHz too. It's a little slow, but it's still running fine.

What kind of "parts" are you looking for? You need to be a little more specific on what you're looking for. There are a lot of common peripherals with PC machines, so perhaps you can find what you're looking for in places where they sell PC parts.
