I plan to get a Laptop for serious amateur music-making purpose, initially, i wanted a Sony VAIO or Toshiba Satelite range, then i find out priing for PC-mobiles, nowadays are as expensive, sometime higher than Mac's....thought of give it a try on Mac's. Anyone here would recommend or hook-up a cheaper Mac G4 Laptop? be it used or even stolen! -Peace

Hi,

If you thinking to stay with Mac/power book, my advise is make sure you know what DAW (digital audio workstation) or MIDI sequencing software to use. This will decide whether you are suitable to use a MAC or not.

Nowadays, the min. requirement is a G4 processor (at least 400mHz); lots of RAM (512mb and above) and firewire ports for your MIDI/audio interface. USB ports are way too "bottle-neck" for large audio-streaming.

I do supply and resell many computer audio stuffs and MIDI keyboards. E-mail me if you need more advice.
