Subject: Repair of companionway folding dropboard

The dropboard plywood inserts were totally dry rotted and I have removed them and disassembled the two frames. I am thinking about replacing the plywood inserts with tinted Lexan plastic. My boating experience is extremly limited, Is this a viable option. I really don't want to rebuild the dropboars again. Is there a source for a replacement latch assembly as mine is missing several parts and is totally unworkable. Thanks

Don't use the old frames at all, less work to build and varnish. I would sugest one pair tinted and one pair clear.Tinted for privacy but for light and if you would install a depthmeter/fishfinder, gps/chartploter on the bulkhead at the companionway, in a rainy day or cold you would want to be able to read it even when washboard are placed in.
