Subject: New mariner owner

Hi, I am the new owner of a mariner 31 (1968). She is an old woody, and in excellent shape. One interesting thing I've noticed, and seen on other Mariners, are ceramic insulators on the cable stay between the main and the mizzen. Is this some kind of ancient AM radio antenna, or some sort of lightnng protection? Any ideas? Anyway, please check out these photos, more to follow. John

John, that is an atenna for single sideband radio. Good for off shore. Take care, Jake.
