Battery life, battery charger life -- MOA

Subject: Battery life, battery charger life

Hello all: I have my boat in Port angeles, WA on the hard and plan to get her backinto the water today. The batteries(3 group 27 gels) seem to be dead after about 5 yrs and the xantrex truecharge charger also dead. How long do these components usually last? My charger is in the engine bay where it gets hot. This may reduce longevity.. I got a new 10 amp smart charger from defender and will be installing today I hope. Thanks for any info.
