Hi Dave, The Ratelco Stove model, 1655 was on Shadow when we bought the boat. I used it a few times only, cause like you said it got hot enough to blister the vanish. But, I like wood fires and I like cooking on wood stoves and I do cook all the time on my wood stove in my house in the fall and winter times, it's to hot the rest of the time where I live. It sure saves on the heating bill. I just found a great place to buy wood stoves for boats, trailers and mountain cabins - Navigator Stove Works LLC. Their site tells the proper space to have - so you don't burn your boat up. Which is like 3.5" from the walls. And there's a shield in between, also. My Ratelco stove has a back shield of only 1/2" from the bulkhead and 3/4" from the shield to the stove. On the sides the shield is not solid so what good is that? Going back to those neat wood stoves the Little Cod would fit on my M32, but of course I like the Halibut, which has an oven. To fit the larger stove will take some modifying. Should I or should I not? If I lived back in that cold country I'd sure have me a nice cozy wood stove to come home to. Yours truly, Kathy

Im going to mount mine with spacers between both sides it mounts on thereby bringing it further from the fiddle rail. this will require a "bent" stack but it will give me more distance between the stack and the melting fiddle rail. Thanks.
