Subject: Access Hatches (or deck plates)

Am doing some work in my cockpit. Murre is blessed with very large cockpit lids that allow easy access to the boat's interior, but they are too big to be safe in a seaway or even close to water tight.

I intend to build in a "subdeck" under the cockpit hatch opening and insert into it a couple stock (plastic is ok) access hatches like the ones found in the West Marine catalogue.

Problem is that I want the hatch lids to be entirely removable, not hinged. I would anticipate not needing the lids unless I'm acually at sea.

Have found none at WestMarine and some (but not the sizes I'm seeking) at Jamestown.

Any leads?

Thanks in advance.

RR

Randall, I work for West Marine and would be willing to see if I can find you the hatch you are looking for if you would put up a link to the ones you you found at Jamestown and the size you are looking for.

Greg
