Silly question but how do you tell if your Mariner 31 has a 4108 or 4107 Perkins? Boat name Bolero

Hi Darren,

I'm not sure if this will help but this old link talks about engine numbers and head stud sizes that are different on the two motors.

but, the 4-108 have heat exchanger is a newer model. 4-107 does not. for further info call Patrick Ritchie who is located in Maine , he is the master of perkins engines, you will not find another person that knows more about them. he is an engine mechanic.

thank you for your help :) it turns out to be a 4108 based on the serial number which required major cleaning and scrapping to identify. pleased to say, engine is now running and running beautifully. much appreciate the help
