Subject: Ice box conversion
In reply to: David Barrow 's message, "M36 ice box/refrigerator conversion" on - Friday - 01/27/17 - 4:44pm

I have owned my mariner 31 since 1993. when I first got her I install a alder barbor super cold machine which has the larger evaporator. I fixed the evaporator one inch off the bottom of the upper ice partition side with the opening facing the inside lower portion of the ice box. The cold air flows out of the evaporator and into the lower box. I stack beer through the outside ice access hatch on a plexyglass shelf which is just above the evaporator. The compressor is located just behind the ice box under the side of the cockpit. I have a 3" corrigated pipe feeding fresh air from the cockpit to the compressor. The evaporator works well as a small freezer with access from the gally hatch. Set has worked well over the years.

I used the Isotherm Ice Box conversion kit. Easy to install and works great. It is AC/DC. Purchased from West Marine.
