what kind of self steering system do you have? Any photos/comments about installation? How does it interface with the wheel?

We have a "Hydrovane" it is bolted to the stern with two mounting pads. It is independent of the main steering so no interface with wheel. Works fairly well although you have to remove the windvane if you want to gybe and having another rudder aft of the main one can make marina berthing in wind a bit interesting.

As for me I used a 3D printer to make brackets to adapt newer Autohelm ST-4000 autopilots for the Mariner's worm gear steering setup. I have some video of it in operation on my Youtube channel Sailing Electric Gitana. Working prototype at this stage but worked great while day sailing off Ensenada. I plan to ruggedize it and print the parts in ABS before serious sailing.
