Subject: Mariner 31 Sails - Furler - Rigging

Restoration of M31 REMEDY is coming along. Hope to be sailing this summer for first time ever. Now that I have really inspected the masts, I discover that the furler is junk, bearings and race all rotted out, foil worn at the head. Not to mention the mast came from an Ericson 34, and the standing rigging is all short of the shroud plates so precious owners used chain to reach.

I'll have to rig as is to get accurate measurements for new stays and shrouds. Stays are 1/4 1/19, lowers 3/16 1x19, split backstay lowers are 3/16 1x19

Can someone recommend an appropriate furler for this boat and whether I should look for a 120 or 150 Genoa. The Genoa I have now is 19' on the foot, so assuming a 150? Seems awfully long though.

The Main is from the 34 Ericson. Mizzen seems to be fine.

A rigger suggested I use Dyneema for the Triatic and run through block to deck at mizzen base.

Should the Main topping life be wire or something else?

The project can be seen here going forward or backwards, 500+ photos, new Beta 25hp, new cockpit, fuel tank, wiring and a thousand other things.
