Subject: M40 ID
In reply to: Terry Bradlow 's message, "Hull ID Numbers" on - Tuesday - 01/ 6/09 - 12:23am

We have a GM-40, the number, #85 (hull number is burned in the forward part of the VBerth) is all that is on our boat. I should qualify that by saying we have found the number 85, written in magic marker in a number of locations. Behind drawers etc. The hull number that is on the title is not afixed to our hull. I dont believe it ever was.

On Our Mariner 32' "Maranatha" on the hull number is on the starboard side of the transom.

[> [> Documentation Number -- John & Jan, - Thursday - 01/22/09 - 3:30pm

Santa Teresa is documented with the Coast Guard rather than registered with the state. For documented vessels, the number has to be permenently fixed to the hull. For example, on ST the number is routed onto the frame in the V-berth. This number is different from the hull number (which is also in the V-berth carved into a stringer on the anchor locker side behind the compression post along with the words "Made in Japan."

The documentation number is also on all of our paper work. I hope this helps.
