Yes, I can see now that the bulkhead extends all the way to the hull. Hmm. Even if I did remove the shoulder, the new deck would be in the way. Will have to think about that.

Any clue how to dissassemble the bronze port? Mine is simply in place w/no apparent fasteners holding it there. I fear it is like one of my bronze dorade vents--corroded in place.

Will be on the lookout for the backscrewed fasteners at hatch level.
