Subject: water in the oil

4-107, Perkins.
I have water in the oil. I also have raw oil in the bilge. Last time i started the engine, white smoke....lots.
When starting, it caughed water and a little oil out the air breather port.

I am thinking the oil cooling system has a leak and is allowing water into the coil. I have been getting oil in the exhast as well (oil skim on the water). This a M31, 1971. Im in San Diego.

I am going to start with the oil cooling system and work my way to a head gasket. Open to any thoughts.

Kevin, I'll be you'll find you're right about the oil cooler being the culprit. I had the same problem some 15yrs. ago. Luckly I found the problem right away and after replacing the cooler and (2) oil changes had no other problems. I keep the sea-cock shut off now. Mark
