Hi
Thanks for the reply. My rudder is solid wood. The guy I bought the boat from used a chain saw to remove the rudder. I guess he didn't know how to remove the fasteners. I have contacted companies that make rudders. $6000 seems quite a bit to me. I am looking for someone that is a little more reasonable.

Hi Mike,
Nice boat. From the voice of experience, make sure you have your dingy ready to launch at a minutes notice, so when you need to get away from your project to think things over, it'll be there, ready for you to take a short sail.
I'm finding that the most reasonable shipwright is self. You can probable get the rudder dimensions from one of the M40 owners.
I hope you do send progress pictures as you go. By the way do you know how to send image posts on our web site? I'm trying to send pictures of my M32 project and am close, but can't get the pictures transferred from imageshack over to MOA.
Yours truly, Kathy

Thanks for the reply. My uncle has a cabinet shop and we have discussed ways of making the core and foils for a new rudder. It is hard to get him past the Elmers glue but, he does know how to shape wood. I tried to post pictures here using the sizing software. Haven't mastered that either. I send pictures by the failsafe method and works each time (email). Bill may add upload feature to the site one day. Then he would have to worry about pictures of old men with beer guts in G-Strings being uploaded. I don't know if he could stand the stress of seeing us. I think he will ban me from the site when he see's my all stainless steel pulpit. Stainless has a longer life expectancy than I do. I have thought about welding the top of 2 VW busses together to make my new cabin. The pop-up camper type. What do you think? I would like to see pictures of your boat if you would like to share.
Mike

Hey Mike,
You may be right about Bill not handling the stress if we started loading up the forum with portraits of ourselves ( bald old ladies, bald from pulling the hair out trying to figure out image posting).
If you use the vw buses then what will you use to go camping with? On the other hand we'd all know you were coming if we have another Mariner rendezvous.
I'm getting close with my progress pictures, but don't hold your breath to long.
Yours truly, Kathy
