Subject: what is the right fluid for the gearbox on the 1972 Perkins 4-107. Atf??

I just noticed the dipstick on my m31 for the gear box and it reads low with what looks like reddish atf fluid on it. my mANUAL DOSENT TELL ME WHAT TO PUT IN SO PERHAPS ONE OF YOU KIND FOLK COULD.
