 I just got a CD called "The Great Tragedy- The Winter Dance Party". The liner notes repeat Dion's story of turning down a ride on the plane because the cost was the same as the rent on his parent's apartment. The liner notes also say that Frankie Sardo declined a ride because he'd had his fill of flying in the Korean War. That's the first time I heard that Sardo was offered a ride! (As a sde note, the CD has a Big bopper song i've never heard before, "Teenage Moon". Amazing all these years later I can stil come across a Bopper song I'd not heard before!
