But does that make him a Cricket? I think not...

He was never on any of Buddy's records, he never recorded with him as one of The Two Tones and/or The Three Tunes, and certainly wasn't connected with him as a Cricket.

He knew and played with Buddy around Lubbock, pre-fame, pre any recording contracts.

It takes more than having strummed a guitar on stage to have been one of Buddy Holly's Crickets, and Tinker wasn't/isn't one of them.
