Thanks for the post.

This is a subject that I have been paying close attention to for about 8 years now.

For me, the gold standard among youtubers who undertake
these attempts to offer 1950's and sixties mono in recreated stereo, is the work of amigoivystereo, who is also one of the first.

His or her posts have been available for 7 years plus, and few others have matched the combination of great results
coupled with a sensitivity to the original intent of the artist and producer.

In most cases, the the efforts of amigoivystereo really does sound as if they could be early stereo mixes circa
1960-62, if only the Holly classics had been recorded on 3
track tape.

I assume that the best digital trickery is involved, but more than that, this fan has a fine ear for frequency
adjustment and a subtlety that many others lack.

And, as you point out, amigoivystereo only uses elements available on the original recordings, occasionally combining
separate versions, but NEVER overdubbing anything new to the recordings. That is a practice I find to be heinous, and really just a lame ego exercise, as in "hey, I recorded with buddy holly".

One of the worst offenders is a youtuber I will not name, who calls his efforts "enhanced versions". He actually doctors full stereo originals by many performers dating all the way to the early 1970's.

Getting back to the positive, here is a link to an effort by amigoivystereo, one of 2 for "Think It Over". I like both, but this "alternate" damn near elevates the original recording to the high octane level of mid '60's Bobby Fuller.

I would enjoy corresponding with amigoivystereo, to thank him or her for respecting the originals, while offering something fun to listen to.
